A white hooded capelet and cable-knit leggings, on the arcade steps at Bethesda Terrace.

How long until my order ships?

Most pieces ship within 2–3 weeks of order. Statement collectibles may take longer; we'll confirm by email.

Can I return or exchange?

Stocked pieces can be exchanged for the other size within 14 days of delivery, unworn and with tags attached. Collectibles are cut to order and are final sale, which is stated on the product page. We do not refund for change of mind. See Exchanges and returns for the full terms.

What is Aurra?

Aurra is our AI stylist. She uses a psychological style framework to recommend what to wear for the rooms that matter. Free to try.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes. Checkout lists every country we ship to directly; if yours is not listed, write to us and we will arrange a quote.

How do I care for my piece?

All pieces are dry clean only. See our Care Guide for full instructions.

How is my size?

House of Nova outerwear is designed for an oversized fit. If you're between sizes, size down for a closer fit or stay on-size for the intended silhouette.

The House

How are House of Nova pieces produced?

Each House of Nova piece is a sculptural design created in a limited edition or limited production run, cut oversized by design with couture precision. Where a piece is hand-finished, that detail is noted on its product page.

Are pieces made to order or available immediately?

Pieces shown in the shop are available to order now and typically ship within 2–3 weeks. Upcoming show collections, such as Between Worlds, are not yet available to purchase.

How do I choose the right size?

Every piece is cut oversized by design and offered in two generous sizes: S/M (roughly US 2–8) and L/XL (roughly US 10–16). Size down for a sharper, closer line, or take your usual size for the fullest, most sculptural drape. Aurra can advise on fit for your frame.

What are the estimated production and delivery times?

Most pieces ship within 2–3 weeks of your order. Tracked delivery times then vary by destination, and your tracking number is emailed the moment your piece leaves the atelier.

What is Aurra, and how does it work?

Aurra is House of Nova's personal AI stylist. Tell her where you're going and how you want to feel, and she creates one considered look around you, personalized to your proportions, palette, location, and occasion, with the reasoning behind each choice.

Are duties and taxes included?

Applicable taxes are calculated at checkout. For international orders, any import duties are set by your local customs authority and may not be included. Please check your region's thresholds.

Buying and delivery

What does House of Nova sell?

Sculptural couture: statement outerwear, knitwear, and collectible runway pieces, each produced in a limited edition or a limited production run. The signature is the Cloud Coat family, sculptural down outerwear where the volume is the silhouette. Every piece is designed by founder Nova Lorraine.

How long does an order take to arrive?

Pieces shown in the shop are available to order now and typically ship within 2 to 3 weeks. Tracked delivery times then vary by destination, and your tracking number is emailed the moment the piece leaves the atelier.

Does House of Nova ship internationally?

Yes. House of Nova ships worldwide, tracked door-to-door. Applicable taxes are calculated at checkout. Import duties may be payable on delivery depending on your destination, so it is worth checking your region's thresholds.

Are pieces made to order or held in stock?

Both, depending on the piece. Limited-run outerwear and knitwear are held in the two sizes until the run is gone, and the card says so when only one size remains. One-size collectibles are cut to order and carry a made-to-order note. Show collections, such as Between Worlds, are not available to purchase before they reveal on the runway.

How do I choose between the pieces?

Answer a few questions in the Coat Matcher and Aurra, the House's personal AI stylist, matches you to a coat for your occasion. For a full outfit rather than a single piece, ask Aurra directly: tell her where you are going and how you want to feel, and she builds one considered look and explains the reasoning behind it.

Can pieces be returned?

Stocked pieces can be exchanged for the other size within 14 days of delivery, unworn and with tags attached. One-size collectibles are cut to order after you buy, so those are final sale and say so on the piece. The House does not refund for change of mind, which is why fit guidance, the size table, and Aurra's advice sit on every product page before checkout rather than after it. If a piece arrives damaged or incorrect, contact the House and it will be put right.

Aurra, the AI stylist

What is an AI personal stylist?

An AI personal stylist takes a description of an occasion, your proportions, and your preferences, and returns a complete outfit with the reasoning behind it, in seconds. Aurra, House of Nova's AI stylist, works this way: you say where you are going and how you want to feel, and she builds one considered look, rendered on a model, made of pieces you can actually buy.

Is an AI stylist better than a styling subscription box?

They solve different problems. An AI stylist is faster, free to try, and answers a question about a specific occasion without shipping anything. A subscription box puts real garments in your hands to try at home, which no software can replace. If you need to decide what to wear this Thursday, the AI stylist wins on speed. If you want to gradually rebuild a wardrobe by trying things on, the box is the better fit.

Can an AI stylist help with my body type?

Yes. Aurra styles around proportions rather than around a category label, so the guidance is about how a specific silhouette sits on your frame rather than a rule applied to a shape name. You can also see a piece on your own photo with virtual try-on before ordering, which is more reliable than any rule of thumb.

Is Aurra free?

Yes, there is a free tier that needs no card and no account to generate a look. Aurra Member, at $20 a month, removes the limits and adds the perks of the House. Retailers and fashion apps can license the same stylist through Aurra for Business.

Does an AI stylist work with clothes I already own?

Aurra does. A recommendation can combine a piece you already own with something new, rather than assuming you are starting from nothing. Only the House's own pieces link directly through to a product page.

Your colour and style report

What is a personal color analysis?

A colour analysis reads the relationship between your skin's undertone, the depth of your colouring, and the contrast between your skin, hair and eyes, then names the palette that works with it. House of Nova returns it as a seven-page report: your season, your colour library, makeup shades and placement, hair direction, and your signature look.

How accurate is a color analysis from a photo?

It depends entirely on the photo, which is why the report says so on page one. Daylight, no filter, facing the camera and minimal makeup give a confident read. A warm indoor light, a filter, or heavy makeup lowers it, and the report tells you which readings were affected rather than presenting a guess as a fact.

What photo should I use?

One photo of your face in bright indirect daylight, facing the camera, with no filter. Bare skin and natural hair give the truest read. A neutral wall behind you helps. Avoid direct sun, coloured indoor lighting, and anything the camera has already beautified.

Is the color analysis free?

Yes. Page one is free to read, and the remaining six pages open when you give an email address. No card, no account needed to start.

What do I do with the report?

Save it as a PDF and take it shopping. The palette tells you what to buy, the makeup pages tell you which shades to test, and the signature page is the short version for when you are standing in a fitting room. Aurra can also style full looks from the same palette.

Finding your coat

How does the Coat Matcher work?

The Coat Matcher asks three questions, your occasion, your climate, and your style, then Aurra scores every coat in the House of Nova collection against your answers and returns the single best match, with the reasoning behind it. Each coat is pre-tagged for the occasions it shines in, the weather it suits, and the style identities it speaks to.

Is the Coat Matcher free?

Yes. The Coat Matcher is free to use and you don't need an account to start. Sign in to House of Nova if you'd like to save your match and the outfit Aurra builds around it.

Which coats can it recommend?

It recommends from the current House of Nova outerwear collection, sculptural, small-batch coats including the Lightning, Cocoon, Anchor, Mist, Stream, and Phoenix. Only in-stock pieces suited to your answers are surfaced.

What if I want more than a coat?

Once Aurra finds your coat, she styles the whole outfit around it and can plan related pieces for your trip or occasion. For open-ended styling on any request, use Ask Aurra, the full AI stylist.

Membership

What do I get with Aurra Member?

Aurra Member is $20/month, or $149/year: unlimited chats and saved Looks, event and travel styling, a quarterly human-stylist session, voice, 24-hour early access to drops, and free shipping.

What is the Design Circle?

Design Circle is the House's invitation-only inner tier: 48-hour early access, private sales, first access to the Design Studio, and a dedicated concierge.

Can I cancel my membership anytime?

Yes, anytime from your account, with no cancellation fees. Founding members keep Aurra Member at $12/month for life.

Nova Lorraine, the founder

Who is Nova Lorraine?

Nova Lorraine is an award-winning fashion designer, futurist, and the founder of House of Nova, the luxury fashion house behind Aurra the AI stylist. She holds a Master's in Clinical Psychology and a fashion design degree from FIT, and she designs emotion-driven, digital-native couture: sculptural pieces made in limited editions and limited production runs.

Why does a psychologist design clothes?

Because the training answers a question fashion usually skips: what a garment does to the person inside it. Nova Lorraine treats clothing as emotional architecture, so volume, weight, and enclosure are chosen for how they make a wearer feel rather than for how they photograph. It is why House of Nova silhouettes are sculptural rather than decorative.

What is Nova Lorraine known for?

Sculptural couture outerwear, the Woven Dreams show at New York Fashion Week, and being the first impact fashion designer with a creation on the moon, via the Lunaprise Moon Museum project in 2024. She has been named among the Top 100 Women of the Future and holds the Metaverse Champion, LAMINA1 NFT Artist, and Web3 Creator Future awards.

Where has Nova Lorraine's work been featured?

Her work has appeared in Forbes, Essence, Vogue Italia, and on The View. She speaks on fashion, AI, and creative practice at events including NFT.NYC, Paris Blockchain Week, SXSW, and Yale Blockchain Week, and has guest lectured from Johns Hopkins to Hampton University.

Has Nova Lorraine written any books?

Yes, two: The Jockey on the Horse and Unleash Your Supernova. She also hosts the podcasts AI for Creatives and Unleash Your Supernova, both of which cover the same territory as the House: creativity, technology, and building a practice that outlasts a trend.

Can I commission a custom piece from Nova Lorraine?

The atelier accepts a limited number of custom couture and commissioned art requests. Share the occasion, the timeline, and any references through the Connect page, and the atelier will say what is possible before anything is committed.

About the House

What is House of Nova?

House of Nova is a luxury fashion house founded by Nova Lorraine, a psychologist turned couture designer. It makes sculptural couture in limited editions and limited production runs, sells original art, and runs Aurra, a personal AI stylist that builds one considered outfit per request and explains the reasoning behind it.

Who founded House of Nova?

Nova Lorraine, an award-winning fashion designer and futurist who holds a Master's in Clinical Psychology and a fashion design degree from FIT. Her work has appeared in Forbes, Essence, Vogue Italia, and on The View, and in 2024 she became the first impact fashion designer with a creation on the moon, via the Lunaprise Moon Museum project.

What does House of Nova make?

Sculptural couture: statement outerwear, knitwear, and collectible runway pieces, each produced in a limited run. The signature is the Cloud Coat family, sculptural down outerwear where the volume is the silhouette. The House also sells original art and licenses Aurra, its AI stylist, to other retailers.

What does emotional architecture mean?

It is the House's founding idea: that clothing should be built the way a room is built, to hold a feeling and to change how it feels to stand inside it. Volume, weight, and enclosure do the work that print and embellishment do elsewhere, which is why the silhouettes are sculptural rather than decorative.

Where is House of Nova sold?

Directly, at houseofnova.io, shipped worldwide and tracked, typically within two to three weeks of ordering. Boutiques and retailers interested in stocking the collection can enquire through the wholesale and trade page.

What is Aurra?

Aurra is House of Nova's personal AI stylist. Tell her where you're going and how you want to feel, and she creates one considered look around you, personalized to your proportions, palette, location, and occasion, with the reasoning behind each choice. She is free to start, with no card and no account required.

Using Aurra

Is Ask Aurra free, and do I need an account?

You can generate a look for free without an account. Sign in to House of Nova to save your looks, build a style profile, and let Aurra learn your taste over time.

How is an AI stylist different from a personal shopper?

A traditional personal shopper is a person who curates over days; Aurra returns a considered look in seconds, any time, at no appointment cost. She won't replace a tailor's eye for final fit on an investment piece, but for deciding what to wear and building a complete outfit around it, she's instant, consistent, and always available.

Can Aurra plan a whole outfit or a trip?

Yes. Give Aurra one piece, or one occasion, and she styles the complete look around it, and can plan related travel and packing so the whole moment is handled.

Can Aurra style luxury and couture, not just basics?

Yes. Aurra styles from House of Nova's sculptural couture collection and reasons about proportion, occasion, and presence, the considerations that matter at higher price points, rather than treating styling as a generic wardrobe-app checklist.

The next collection

When is the House of Nova Between Worlds show?

Between Worlds shows at New York Fashion Week on September 12, 2026. The countdown on this page runs to the show; the venue and exact call time go to members and accredited press first, ahead of any public announcement.

What is Between Worlds about?

Between Worlds continues the House's study of clothing as emotional architecture. It is a collection about transformation and liminality: garments made for the thresholds we move through, and for the versions of ourselves we become on the other side. Expect the House's signature sculptural volume, where the silhouette is the statement rather than the surface decoration.

Can I buy pieces from Between Worlds?

Not yet. Between Worlds is a show collection and reveals on the runway; nothing from it is available to purchase before then. The pieces you can order today are the sculptural coats, knitwear, and collectibles in the shop, several of which walked the House's debut show.

How do I attend or watch the show?

House of Nova shows are invitation led. Members of the House hear first, with dates, cities, and invitations landing by email before anything is announced publicly. Press, buyers, and partners can request accreditation through the Connect page.

What was the last House of Nova show?

Woven Dreams, the House's New York Fashion Week debut: sculptural down coats cut with couture precision by founder Nova Lorraine. The runway film and the full gallery of stills live on the Runway page, and the Tornado Capelet, Phoenix Coat, Igloo Sweater and Cocoon Coat from that show remain part of the House.

Who designs House of Nova?

Nova Lorraine, a psychologist turned couture designer. She holds a Master's in Clinical Psychology and a fashion design degree from FIT, and her work has appeared in Forbes, Essence, Vogue Italia, and on The View. In 2024 she became the first impact fashion designer with a creation on the moon, via the Lunaprise Moon Museum project.

Campaigns and imagery

What is a House of Nova campaign?

A chapter in the House's story: a collection, a place, and its people, photographed as a set. Each campaign is either a real photoshoot on location or an AI photoshoot created with Aurra, the House's own AI stylist, and every story carries a badge saying which of the two it is.

Does House of Nova use AI-generated imagery?

Yes, for some campaigns, and it always says so. AI photoshoots are labelled AI photoshoot on the story itself, never presented as photography. They let the House stage its pieces in places a crew cannot reach, while real photoshoots, like the Woven Dreams runway, are labelled real photoshoot and shot on location with a camera.

Why label AI imagery at all?

Because a buyer deciding on a coat deserves to know whether they are looking at a photograph of that coat or a rendering of it. The House would rather lose the illusion than mislead someone about what a garment looks like in real light, which is also why product pages carry the actual photography.

Can I buy the pieces in a campaign?

In most cases, yes. The Woven Dreams campaign features pieces from the House's New York Fashion Week debut, and the Tornado Capelet, Phoenix Coat, Igloo Sweater and Cocoon Coat from that show are in the shop today. Upcoming show collections, such as Between Worlds, are not available to purchase before they reveal on the runway.

Where can I see the full Woven Dreams imagery?

On the Runway page, which holds the complete runway film and the full gallery of stills from the show. The three frames on this page are the campaign's calling card rather than the whole set.

Getting in touch

How do I contact House of Nova?

Write to hello@houseofnova.io for orders and the collection, press@houseofnova.io for media, partnerships@houseofnova.io for collaborations and wholesale, or atelier@houseofnova.io for bespoke couture and commissioned art. The message form on this page reaches the same inboxes and is routed for you.

How quickly will I hear back?

Every message gets a response, usually within one business day. Custom couture and commissioned art enquiries can take a little longer, since the atelier reviews these personally before replying rather than sending a holding note.

I have a question about my order.

Include your order number and the email you used at checkout, and the order can be pulled up on the first reply instead of the third. For shipping timelines, duties, returns, and care, the policies pages have the full detail and are usually faster than waiting on a response.

Can I request a private styling appointment?

Yes. Request one through the form on this page and say the occasion and the date you are dressing for. Aurra, the House's personal AI stylist, is also available at any hour to build a considered look for a specific occasion, with no appointment and no account needed to start.

Can I commission a custom piece?

Yes. The atelier accepts a limited number of custom couture and commissioned art requests. Share the occasion, the timeline, and any references, and the atelier will tell you what is possible, and what is not, before anything is committed.

Do you take press and interview requests?

Yes. Send accreditation, imagery, look book, and interview requests to press@houseofnova.io or through the form, choosing the press subject. Founder Nova Lorraine speaks on fashion, AI, and creative practice, and her work has appeared in Forbes, Essence, Vogue Italia, and on The View.

Do you sell wholesale or work with stockists?

Yes. Wholesale, stockist, and trade enquiries for the House's own collection are handled on the trade page. Licensing Aurra, the AI stylist, for your own store or app is a separate conversation and lives on the Aurra for Business page.

Events and shows

When is the next House of Nova show?

Between Worlds shows at New York Fashion Week on September 12, 2026, in New York City. It is the House's second runway collection, following the Woven Dreams debut, and it is about transformation and liminality.

How do I get an invitation to a House of Nova event?

Events are invitation led. Members of the House are notified first: dates, cities, venues, and invitations go out by email before anything is announced publicly. Joining the House is free and takes a minute.

Can press and buyers request accreditation?

Yes. Send accreditation, imagery, look book, and interview requests through the Connect page, or write to press@houseofnova.io directly. Wholesale and stockist enquiries are handled separately on the trade page.

Can I watch a House of Nova runway show online?

Yes. Each show is filmed and published on the Runway page, along with the full gallery of stills. The Woven Dreams film and all 47 frames from that show are there now, free to watch with no account.

Are pieces from the runway available to buy?

Pieces from past shows are, once they enter the permanent line. The Tornado Capelet, Phoenix Coat, Igloo Sweater and Cocoon Coat walked Woven Dreams and are in the shop today. An upcoming show collection, such as Between Worlds, is not available to purchase before it reveals on the runway.

Does House of Nova hold trunk shows or private appointments?

Yes. Trunk shows and gatherings of the House are announced to members first. A private styling appointment can be requested any time through the Connect page, and Aurra, the House's personal AI stylist, is available at any hour to build a considered look for a specific occasion.

Aurra for business

What is Aurra for Business?

Aurra for Business licenses the AI stylist behind House of Nova to retailers and fashion apps. It styles complete, on-brand outfits from your own catalog and returns them either through a REST API you call from your product pages, or through a white-label embed you drop into your site. The same engine that styles House of Nova customers, pointed at your assortment.

How does Aurra integrate with my store or app?

Two paths. The API suits teams that want to own the interface: you call Aurra from your own product pages, cart, or app, and render the result however you like. The white-label embed suits teams that want it live quickly: a hosted widget styled to your brand, added with a snippet. Both style only from your catalog, so every recommendation is a piece a customer can actually add to a bag.

What results does AI styling deliver for retailers?

Two mechanisms. Complete looks lift average order value, because a customer arriving for one item leaves with the outfit that item belongs to. Better-matched pieces cut returns, because fit, occasion, and a style profile are considered before the order rather than after it. The experience stays on-brand throughout, so the lift does not come at the cost of how the store feels.

Can Aurra match my brand's voice and look?

Yes. Both the embed and the API adapt to your tone of voice, your merchandising and styling rules, and your visual identity. If your buyers never pair a certain silhouette with a certain fabric, Aurra will not either. The stylist is configurable; the House's own taste is not baked in.

What data does Aurra need, and who owns it?

A product feed is the minimum: images, titles, categories, and attributes such as colour, fabric, and occasion. Richer attribution produces better styling, but Aurra will work from a standard feed. You keep the customer data and the customer relationship; the integration is a styling layer on your commerce, not a marketplace that sits between you and your buyer.

How long does an integration take?

The white-label embed can be live in days, since it needs a feed and a snippet. An API integration depends on how much of the surface you are building yourself, and is typically scoped in weeks rather than months. Either way it starts the same: a demo where Aurra styles your real catalog so you can judge the output before scoping anything.

Who is this built for?

Fashion retailers and multi-brand e-commerce teams that want outfit-level recommendations rather than item-level ones, styling apps that need a recommendation engine they do not have to build, and brands launching direct-to-consumer who want a personal shopping experience without hiring a styling team.

How do we get started?

Book a demo through the form on this page. We will style your catalog live, show you the output on your own products, and then scope integration and pricing against what you actually saw rather than against a deck.

How Aurra works

Is Aurra free to use?

Yes, there is a free tier and it needs no card. You can generate looks straight away at Ask Aurra without signing in. Aurra Member, at $20 a month, removes the limits and adds the perks of the House; the Studio tier is for designers working in the Atelier at volume.

How is an AI stylist different from a styling subscription box?

A subscription box sends you physical clothes chosen by a stylist and asks you to return what you do not want. Aurra sends you a decision: one complete, rendered look with the reasoning, drawn from pieces you can actually buy, with nothing to ship back. It answers in seconds rather than weeks, and it works across your whole wardrobe rather than only what one retailer stocks.

Does Aurra work with clothes I already own?

Yes. Aurra styles across the whole wardrobe rather than only the House's own pieces, so a recommendation can combine something you already own with something new. The House's pieces are the ones that link straight through to a product page.

What is the 3D wardrobe viewer?

A real, rotatable 3D mesh of a garment, generated on demand for the piece you are looking at, rather than a pre-recorded turntable video. It exists because sculptural clothing is judged on form, and a flat photograph hides exactly the thing you are paying for.

Can I try a piece on before ordering?

Yes. Upload a photo and see the piece on your own body, which is the fastest way to settle the choice between the two oversized sizes, S/M and L/XL, before you order.

Can a brand or retailer license Aurra?

Yes. Aurra for Business licenses the same stylist to retailers and fashion apps, by REST API or a white-label embed, styling only from your catalog so every recommendation is shoppable. Book a demo on the Aurra for Business page.

Wholesale and stockists

How do I become a House of Nova stockist?

Request the line sheet using the form below and tell us about your store, location, categories you carry, and your customer. We'll follow up with current wholesale pricing, minimums, lead times, and next steps to open an account.

What are the wholesale minimums and lead times?

Minimums and lead times are shared on the current line sheet, since they vary by season and by piece. As a guide, core outerwear and knitwear ship on a defined production window and reorders are supported within a season's run. Request the line sheet for exact figures.

Do you offer exclusives or made-to-request pieces?

Yes. Because pieces are made in small batches by the atelier, we can discuss store exclusives, colorways, and made-to-request capsules for the right partners. Mention it in your inquiry and we'll route you to the atelier directly.

Where do you ship, and how are duties handled?

We ship to stockists across North America, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Shipping method, timelines, and duty/customs responsibility are confirmed with your wholesale terms so there are no surprises at delivery.

Art and commissions

What's the difference between the digital and physical editions?

The digital edition is a high-resolution file delivered instantly by email, yours to view on screens or print yourself within the included license. The physical edition is a museum-quality print (or original), produced to order, signed, numbered where applicable, and shipped to your door.

How and when is the digital file delivered?

Immediately. As soon as checkout completes you'll receive an email with a secure download link. Files are full resolution at 300 DPI, ready for large-format printing.

How are prints made and how long do they take?

Prints are produced on archival, museum-grade papers using pigment inks rated to last generations. Most ship within 7–10 days; originals and 1-of-1 pieces ship within 5–7 days, crated and insured.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, worldwide, tracked and fully insured. Any import duties or taxes are assessed by the destination country and are the recipient's responsibility.

What is your return policy?

Because prints and originals are produced to order, all sales are final. If a piece arrives damaged in transit, contact us within 7 days with photos and we'll replace or repair it. Digital downloads, once delivered, are non-refundable.

Can I license a work for commercial use?

Each digital edition includes a personal & small-commercial license. For broader commercial or display licensing, email hello@houseofnova.io and we'll arrange terms.

Dressing for an occasion

Where can I buy unique designer couture for a special event?

Four routes, each with a different strength. Direct from a small couture house gives the most distinctive piece, since production is in limited runs; House of Nova ships worldwide in two to three weeks. Multi-brand marketplaces such as Net-a-Porter, Farfetch, and Moda Operandi give the widest selection and the fastest delivery. Rental suits a single wear. Authenticated resale gives the best value and the lowest environmental cost.

How do I find a dress nobody else will be wearing?

Buy from a house that produces in limited editions or limited production runs rather than at scale, and buy something outside the current trend cycle. A sculptural piece from an independent house is far less likely to appear twice in one room than a widely stocked designer piece, simply because fewer of them exist.

Is it better to rent or buy couture for an event?

Rent if you will genuinely wear it once and want none of the cost back. Buy if the piece fits a wardrobe you are building, if you will wear it more than a few times, or if you want something you can keep and eventually resell. Cost-per-wear settles it quickly: a piece worn ten times at $1,200 costs less per outing than renting four times at $150.

How long does House of Nova take to deliver?

Pieces in the shop are available to order now and typically ship within two to three weeks, worldwide and tracked door-to-door. Applicable taxes are calculated at checkout; import duties for international orders are set by your local customs authority.

What sizes does House of Nova offer?

Two generous sizes: S/M, roughly US 2 to 8, and L/XL, roughly US 10 to 16. Every piece is cut oversized by design, so the volume is intentional. Size down for a sharper line, or take your usual size for the fullest drape. Aurra can advise on fit, and virtual try-on shows the piece on your own photo before you order.

Buying less, and better

Is sustainable luxury actually worth the higher price?

Judge it on cost-per-wear rather than on the ticket price. A $1,200 coat worn 100 times a year for five years costs $2.40 a wear. A $150 coat that loses its shape in two seasons and gets worn 40 times costs $3.75 a wear, and you bought it twice. The expensive piece is often the cheaper one, provided you genuinely wear it and genuinely maintain it. Where the maths fails is on pieces bought for a fantasy version of your life.

What are the best sustainable luxury brands for beginners?

Start with criteria rather than a brand list, because brands change and criteria do not. Look for published supply chain information naming actual factories, third-party certification such as GOTS, OEKO-TEX, or Bluesign, a repairs or resale programme, and production in limited runs rather than in a constant seasonal churn. Any brand meeting three of those four is worth your money more than a brand meeting none of them with an excellent sustainability page.

How many pieces should a sustainable capsule wardrobe have?

Between 30 and 40 pieces per season for most people, excluding underwear, sleepwear, and sportswear. The number matters far less than the ratio: aim for every top to work with at least three bottoms, and every outer layer to work with most of the wardrobe. If a new piece works with fewer than three things you already own, it is a costume rather than a wardrobe addition.

Can secondhand designer clothing be considered sustainable?

Yes, and it is often the single most sustainable purchase available, because the environmental cost of the garment has already been paid and buying it displaces the manufacture of something new. Resale platforms with authentication services have made this safe for luxury specifically. The caveat is behavioural: secondhand buying is only sustainable while it replaces new purchases rather than adding to them.

How do I know if a luxury brand is greenwashing?

Look for numbers and dates. Real disclosure names materials by percentage, names or audits factories, states targets with deadlines, and reports on the ones it missed. Greenwashing uses adjectives instead: conscious, responsible, eco, and mindful, attached to a single capsule collection while the rest of the business is unchanged. A brand that publishes an uncomfortable number is telling you more than a brand that publishes a beautiful paragraph.

What is the single biggest thing I can do to make my wardrobe more sustainable?

Wear what you already own for longer. Extending a garment's active life is the largest lever available to an individual, and it is larger than fabric choice, brand choice, and recycling combined. Storage, washing less often, and a relationship with a tailor and a cobbler do more for a wardrobe's footprint than any purchase decision.
